Tan Son Nhut from June 1968 to May 1969. I worked in the egress (ejection systems)

at the end of the road, the chow hall and water tower was on, right next to perimeter road.
(When I wasn't in the VN Officers Club by the gate, or downtown.) Loved those
mortar and rocket attacks. Yeah, right!!! Now I'm retired from the Air
Force and work civil service at Edwards AFB, CA., in the Airdrop Test section.
Anyone knowing the location of Ed Brown, Nick Mongelli or Delbert Moon, please let me know.

Comments: I pulled a TDY at Tan Son Nhut from April 1968 to June 1968. I
was one of two people who were from the 1373rd Mapping and Charting Squadron, who were working
at Tan Son Nhut. The two of us, were working in the 12th RITS building processing and
evaluating aerial mapping film. We lived in a hotel somewhere in Saigon, I don't
remember the name of it. Our RC-130s would taxi up, drop the door and toss the film
out. They hardly slowed down. They just wanted to get the hell out of
there. While I was TDY at TSN, I received my PCS orders to go to Nam. I
went back to the ZI and turned around a couple of months later and returned to TSN, to the 600
Photo Squadron. From there, the 600th PCS'd me, assigned me to Det 14 at Pleiku.
I left Pleiku in June of 1969. I stayed in and retired with 26 years in 1976.

worked with, their names do not come to me and I find myself apologizing for not remembering.
For a while I worked part-time at a facility where people could go to record music
on reel-to- reel tapes. It all seems so long ago. Now, one would not dream
of buying a reel-to-reel tape recorder. The year I was there, the squadron developed
a patch for the squadron. I would be interested in obtaining one of the patches.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone with whom I might have served. I
retired from the Air Force in 1993.

As a 204, just out of the Intel School at Lowry, my first assignment was 7AF at TSN.
OCT 1970. I was with INTMF in that air-conditioned, three story white building.
Good duty. Back at the hootches near Camp Alpha, cock roaches galore.
I was sent to England AFB in Louisiana. My first day there, I walked into
personnel and volunteered to go back! It took eight months, but in AUG of 1972, I was
back at Tan Son Nnut. I was now at MACV HQ with INTTC and slept at the Montana BEQ.
I have a ton of pictures and many good memories. Ah, the good old days...

Son Nhut Airbase. The unit was a military intelligence unit on the outskirts of Tan
Son Nhut just past the mortuary on the left and not far from an abandon church. You
would ride through the main gate staying to the right going pass the Texaco refinery before
getting to the mortuary. I was processed in at a villa downtown Saigon for clearance
by a Captain Pack(no relation) in late December 1969. The unit had a operational
name that I have no records of and letters to home are gone, also the unit was flying
generators out to villages. I was transferred from this Intel unit to an engineering

from my Nam experience, can anyone help me with this dilemma.

I was on TDY from Mactan A.B. to the 8th Aerial Port at Tan Son Nhut from 12/20/67 to
02/24/68. On the early morning of Feb. 17,1968 , I was working on 58-743 when
the base came under mortar and rocket attack. I had been fixing the Doppler
navigation system when the first round came in on Rebel Ramp. I hesitated for
a minute as to what my next move was going to be as the crew chief for the aircraft yelled into
the plane from outside that we were under attack. ( It was not uncommon to hear
explosions , as for several days prior to this day we had heard them outside the perimiter
constantly as I remember.) I jumped from the aircraft after hearing the crew and had
made it almost to engine no. 2 when the C-130 took a direct hit in the cockpit. If it
was not for this airman I might not be here today. After all these years and the
ability to communicate on the internet, I would like to meet this guy or at least talk to him
and thank him for saving my life. I owe him more than a couple of San Miquels.

1st Signal Brigade. We had about a half dozen Bell UH-1 Hueys at the heliport, right
next to the 120th Aviation Company - the Deans. We also had a fixed-wing department
flying U-6As, U-1As, and U-21As. We were right across the ramp from Air America.
Next to Air America were the "Ranch Hand" C-123s. Immediately to our
right was the MACV Fligth Detachment with their Beech U-8s. Behind us was a VNAF
helicorpter unit. I was there during Tet of 1968, VERY INTERESTING!!!!!!
I flew all over the country side, so I have thousands of photographs of Tan Son Nhut from the
air, as well as the Saigon area, and the entire country of South Vietnam. My barracks
was at Camp Gaylor - just inside the main gate of the air base on the left side, close to the
large covered radar tower. Also at Camp Gaylor was the 2nd Signal Group and the 69th
Signal Battalion, and some classified "communications" huts, but I do not remember who they were.
Anyway, the TSNA is a great web page, and I welcome any former members of the

together @ TSN from Nov 71 to Nov 72, with the 310th Tactical Airlift Squadron, (C-123K's) and
your page has put us in touch with one another. I also received a reply from another
friend, as a result of a posting on your page, and I thank you once again for reuniting me with
some close friends.

Comments: I found your site several weeks back thanks to Charles Penley and the
Vietnam Security Police Association bullentin board. I was with the 377th Security
Police Squadron from late 1969 thru June of 1970 after being assigned from Nha Trang, Air Base.
This site is great ... I especially like the map and photos for this
month.

Comments: 1Lt Gale Walter Croon, (I may not have that spelled right) died at Tan Son Nhut while I was there. I did see his name at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in D.C. when I was there. I think he was assigned to 7th AF HQ, but it could have been the 12th RITS which was in the same complex. Jim Pew.

Comments: Hi, its Diane again. As I was looking through Dad's Air Force personnel files and the CAS files, I found that the Commander of Tan Son Nhut, Air Base, at the time of their MIA date was a Col. Budway. Does this sound familiar to you, or any of the other Association members? Also, how might I find out who the chopper pilot or crew members were that flew dad and the other men, to the R & R beach, at Vung Tau, on 30 Oct 1965. I have been in contact with Jasper Page, the only one of the four who escaped after five days of captivity, in the jungles near Bein Hoa, Air Base. He has racked his brain trying to help me. I quess as years go by, the names fade. Jasper remembers every thing else, including the debriefing, which I have in Daddy's files.
Also on the Memorial page, Sam Adams and Charles Dusing were with the 6250th Civil Engr. too.
On the wall, Dad is located on Panel E-3, Line 9. Sam's and Charles are Line 8.
No biggy just wanted to thank you for adding them to the Memorial page.
Also wanted to give you this information, on who the Commander of the base was at the time of the incident. Also may I place the Tan Son Nhut Patch on Dad's web page and link it back to yours?
Thanks!
Diane Moore

Comments: I'm glad I found this organization, my check is in the mail.
I arrived at Tan Son Nhut in Oct 1968 and did my year of duty with the 377th Civil Engineer's Squadron, as an electrical power production specialists. We have an opportunity to build a great organization with the variety of people who were at TSN. All included - none excluded is a change from some of the elitist organizations around. Comments: Hi, my name is Don Minnish of Godsboro, N.C. I just got this webtv setup and found your web page quite by accident, and being a TSN vet I'd like to respond and maybe correspond with other TSN vets. I was assigned to the 360th TEWS from Nov. 69 to Nov. 70 as a crewchief on an EC-47P #603. If anybdy remembers our nose art , my airplane had a picture of Andy Capp leaning on a bar with a drink in his hand and the slogan "Buzz Off." That may jog a few memories, especially for the crews that flew the plane. If anyone remembers the good ole days, let me hear from you. I'm retired now and have plenty of time to surf the web. Lots of luck and welcome back after a hard job well done!!!!!!

Comments: My name is Nora Moore. I am the oldest daughter of CMSgt Thomas Moore, who was assigned to the 6250th Civil Engr. Sq., Tan Son Nhut, Air Base from April 65 to Oct 31, 1965. Dad and three of his buddies by the name of Sam Adams, Charles Dusing and Jasper Page, took care of the coolant systems, air conditioning, refrigeration.
Like many Airmen, they worked long hours and days without a day off. The four of them got a 24 hour R&R and went to Vung Tau, by air transportation. On their return to TSN, via ground transportation, they were captured by VC, on Oct 31, 1965.
Only Jasper Page escaped after a few days of incarceration. I am trying to find a 6250th patch that I might obtain. The 6250th was the precursor to the 377th Command Group. Also if anyone knew my dad, then I would be interested in hearing from you.
Please check out my web page dedicated to my father. Thanks in advance.

Comments: Thank you for an excellent web site and for all the work you do to keep this thriving. It is a privilege to read all the information & stories, you all have shared, especially the pictures of the month. I was informed of this web site by my new friend Bob Need who as we all know is the Public Affairs Director of TSNA. I was with the 69th Signal Battalion (U.S. Army) and stationed at Tan Son Nhut during TET 68. I will always remember SGT's Cyr, Fischer, Hebron & Mills along with all our veterans who gave the supreme sacrifice. GOD bless all of you who served and it was a pleasure to have been with you at Tan Son Nhut.
